Hey!
This is just a update email to let you know my in-progress book, Mostly Harmless AI, just got a major update. I’ve added a bunch of sections on how AI and LLMs work, refactored a bunch of existing chapters, and moved things around to make the whole story more cohesive.
You can get the early draft, and access to all future versions and editions of the book, in the link below:
Here’s a sneak peek inside.
The manuscript currently stands at approximately 160 pages and is structured into three distinct parts. The first, "Foundations of AI," is dedicated to explaining the core concepts of artificial intelligence and the underlying mechanisms of large language models. This is followed by "Applications of AI," which explores the diverse ways AI is being integrated across various professional fields. Finally, "Dangers of AI" addresses the inherent challenges and risks associated with this powerful technology. At present, the book encompasses about 70% of the content I've outlined for the final version.
And as all my educational material, everything published in this book already is or will be soon available to read online for free. However, the book features a much more cohesive structure, and many chapters have been or will be updated and extended with additional insights.
A word of warning, though: the book is already in alpha stage, which means some chapters are incomplete or downright missing, and there is almost no editorial work put it into yet. There can and will be mistakes, from misspellings to downright incorrect claims—although I’ve worked very hard to minimize these ones—and some content may be a little outdated at the moment.
That’s all for today! Thanks for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy reading through the draft as much as I’m enjoying writing it, but with far less stress than I have :)
Best,
Alex
