All Mostly Harmless Books at +80% off
Celebrating my birthday with the biggest discount ever.
Hey!
Next Friday, November 1st, save for some unforseen event, I will turn 35. Honestly, I plan to live well beyond 70, but still, 35 seems like a very middle-of-the-curve age. After all, not many people are highly creative and productive after 70—though I hope that changes in the next 35 years.
So, without getting too philosophical or romantic—I’m working on another post for that—I wanted to throw a digital birthday party. And what better way to do so than with my favourite hobby: sharing a bit of what I know.
Thus, this week, I’m giving away my in-progress book collection at the largest discount you’ve ever seen. All my currently planned and future books for less than a cheap burger.
If you don’t know what’s included, here is a quick recap. The Mostly Harmless Compendium is a collection of technical books I’m writing on different topics in Computer Science. Right now, it includes the almost finished How to Train your Chatbot, scheduled for release early 2025, and two other books titled The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Graphs and The Science of Computation, which are longer-term projects.
Plus, all the books I’m planning to write in the near and mid-term future, including three based on courses I’m currently teaching: one on basic programming, another on algorithm design strategies, and a third one on formal languages and compilers. These are still just very early ideas that will start to take shape late 2025 or early 2026. And if life treats me well, I plan to write perhaps another dozen or two on way too many topics I’m interested in.
As I have done so far, all of that will be always published first as free articles in this blog (or wherever I happen to be in the future of the Internet).
Getting the Compendium today grants you lifetime access to everything I will ever write. It’s the best way to support this blog, but, more importantly for me, it gives me the validation that some people find what I write useful, and that’s the best fuel for my motivation.
Finally, I want to thank the almost 200 of you who support this blog by getting one or more of my books. For all of you, if you still haven’t got the Compendium, please check your email and you’ll find what I hope is a pleasant surprise.
Thank you all,
Alex

Happy Birthday. It’s probably too technical for me but I’m glad to support you. 35 is a great age - enjoy!
