I just turned on paid subscriptions. Don't worry; I will never put any educational content behind a paywall. I firmly believe that free, high-quality education is crucial in solving our world's biggest problems. This short post will tell you my intentions with subscriptions and maybe convince some of you to upgrade.

There are three things I love doing professionally: education, research, and innovation. Writing for this substack is a big part of my love for education, and I will keep doing it regardless of its cost, as I've done so far. However, occasionally, I have to do things I don't love as much to be able to afford to do the things I love. I'm sure you do too.

Thus, the fundamental reason for turning on paid subscriptions is to trade some of that time doing things I don't love for time doing more of this, writing free and high-quality (I hope) educational content.

Every paid subscriber takes away a bit of that load and helps me improve this newsletter for everyone else.
